Reception Furniture - Let the Visitors Get a Pleasant Shock

Reception office furniture is placed in the area of a business property or office building where visitors and clients will make first contact with your establishment and employees. Reception area furniture should convey the image that you seeking to project and should appear professional,
efficient and welcoming. Depending on the type of company office reception furniture can look stylish, luxurious, understated, or modern and minimalist.

Types and Purposes of Reception Furniture

The main purposes of office lobby furniture are to create a first impression and to allow visitors to wait in comfort. With the right reception room furniture and decorations you can make even the smallest reception area look spacious and welcoming. Essentially all reception desk furniture fits into one of two categories, traditional or contemporary.

Oak and other dark woods are the materials most often used for traditional reception area furniture whereas more contemporary styles may include chrome, lighter woods, more modular pieces, unique color combinations or artistic accents. Normally such an area includes multiple seating, small tables to hold magazines or company literature, and perhaps decorative pieces like a bookcase with carefully arranged art items or select items from the company's inventory if applicable. Effective waiting rooms are not only comfortable and stylish but if possible convey, in subtle ways, information about the company.

How to Select Reception Furniture

The most important considerations in selecting reception furniture are budget and available space. Keep in mind the number of employees that will be working in the area and the number of visitors or clients you are likely to have on any given day.

How much space do you have?

Measuring available space is the most important step. When you know how much space you have to work with consider whether or not the area would best be maximized with pre-built or customized reception desks and work stations. Custom units can be tailored to the exact space and constructed in a wide range of materials and colors but will be more expensive than prefabricated pieces. Make a drawing to scale of the space and try different layouts to help you determine what is required.

What kind of image do you want to project?

With the right reception office furniture you can establish the image or tone of your business the moment a visitor or client walks in the door. For instance in a law office, an air of understated elegance and quiet permanence might be appropriate whereas a toy company might want a brightly colored, modular space with examples of their products available for examination. If you simply have some folding chairs and a coffee table made of apple crates in your waiting area, you're sending a message that your business isn't doing so well and probably won't be around for long. First impressions are important.
