Book Cases - Which is the Right One for Your Office?

Built in bookcases and other types of office book cases such as the well known oak bookcases have been around for a long time. These shelved storage units are often used in the home but can also be very effective and versatile when used in a business or office space situation. Bookshelves for office use can be bought in many different types and sizes and are typically used for folders, files and books.

Arrangement systems for office bookcases

Bookcases can be installed and arranged in different ways according to need and available space. It's a good idea to work out how many shelves or bookcases you will need for your office before you purchase the units themselves and to consider how they can best be placed to enhance the efficiency of the office. Putting shelves in alcoves or hallways is a good use of space and the units can also be used between desks where they will serve as informal room dividers.

Different types of bookcases

Office book cases can be made out of a wide variety of materials. Depending on the look that you would like to create for your office you could pick from any of these options:

Oak bookcases with their traditional look can be stylish but will need to be polished periodically to maintain its appearance.

Cherry bookcases are with a reddish hue that can clash with other office furniture so select carefully.

Maple bookcases are very durable wood and can look great when combined with more modern materials such as steel and aluminum.

Different types of bookshelves

Office bookshelves can be purchased in nearly any type of material nowadays but the most common types of bookshelves are:

Wooden bookshelves crafted in oak, cherry or maple. If you decide that you really want wooden bookshelves investigate used office bookshelves as wooden shelving can be quite expensive.

Glass bookshelves are thick enough to carry substantial weight and have an open, modern appearance. (It's a good idea to check the weight bearing capacity of a glass shelf, especially if it will be used to hold heavy books.)

Steel bookshelves are mostly used for archiving as they are strong and sturdy but sometimes austere in appearance. This type of bookshelf can look great in a stylish minimalist office space if carefully selected.
